|Our Programs for Young Children Will Inspire You
Whether your child loves painting, dancing, stories, or scientific exploration our programming offers fun and educational classes that range from literacy- and culturally-based activities, to science, to visual and performing arts. Discovery Gatewayâ€™s daily classes and weekly workshops are free with admission to the Museum, and every DG program is based on research, evaluation, and testing.
Sing, dance, and explore with musical instruments! Children learn to express themselves creatively through sound and movement in this half hour class. Music in Motion is a program for children ages 18 months â€“ 3 years. Sign up to participate at the Information Desk.Mondays | 11 am and 12 pm
Become a master storyteller and develop your childâ€™s critical thinking skills during this Motheread/Fatheread half hour session. Motheread/Fatheread is a nationally recognized literacy program. Time for Tots is a class for children 18 months â€“ 3 years. Sign up to participate at the Information Desk.
Tuesdays | 11 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, and 3 pm
Children will explore their inner artist through creative work with a variety of materials, including paint, clay, and glue. Creative Kids is a half hour class and is for children ages 4 â€“ 8 years. Sign up to participate at the Information Desk.
Wednesdays | 11 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, and 3 pm
In this half hour class, children are encouraged to ask questions about nature and to seek answers through collecting things, counting and measuring, making observations, and experimenting. Little Scientist is a class for children ages 2 â€“ 5 years. Sign up to participate at the Information Desk.
Thursdays | 11 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, and 3 pm
Children can do amazing things and in this half hour class, children will participate in a variety of health, safety, and self-esteem building activities. Amazing Me! is a program for children ages 3 â€“ 7 years. Sign up to participate at the Information Desk.
Fridays | 11 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, and 3 pm
Every Saturday, become a CSI discovery agent. In this half-hour workshop, agents uncover the mysteries of the world by finding evidence, conducting experiments, and drawing conclusions! Saturdays | 1 pm, 3 pm, and 5 pm
Led by DGâ€™s artist-in-residence, little ones, older children, and parents create masterpieces of art together using a wide variety of media in this half-hour workshop. This workshop requires a materials fee: $5 per person for members; $7 per person for non-members, and $15 for a family of 3+. Register for this class at Admissions. Fridays | 4:30 pm
