Our Programs for Young Children Will Inspire You
Whether your child loves painting, dancing, stories, or scientific exploration our programming offers fun and educational classes that range from literacy- and culturally-based activities, to science, to visual and performing arts. Discovery Gateway’s daily classes and weekly workshops are free with admission to the Museum, and every DG program is based on research, evaluation, and testing.
Become a master storyteller and develop your child’s critical thinking skills during this Motheread/Fatheread half hour session. Motheread/Fatheread is a nationally recognized literacy program. Time for Tots is a class for children 18 months – 3 years. Sign up to participate at the Information Desk. Limit 12 students per class. Tuesdays | 11 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, and 3 pm
Children will explore their inner artist through creative work with a variety of materials, including paint, clay, and glue. Creative Kids is a half hour class and is for children ages 4 – 8 years. Sign up to participate at the Information Desk. Limit 12 students per class. Wednesdays | 11 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, and 3 pm
In this half hour class, children are encouraged to ask questions about nature and to seek answers through collecting things, counting and measuring, making observations, and experimenting. Little Scientist is a class for children ages 2 – 5 years. Sign up to participate at the Information Desk. Limit 12 students per class. Thursdays | 11 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, and 3 pm
 Children can do amazing things and in this half hour class, children will participate in a variety of health, safety, and self-esteem building activities. Amazing Me! is a program for children ages 3 – 7 years. Sign up to participate at the Information Desk. Limit 12 students per class. Fridays | 11 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, and 3 pm
Weekly Workshops Families will explore evidence, conduct experiments, and draw conclusions with different scientific themes. Fridays | 2:30 pm & 5 pm Saturdays | 2 pm, 4 pm, and 6 pm
Led by DG’s Arts Educator, little ones, older children, and parents create masterpieces of art together using a wide variety of media. Sign up for this class at the Info Desk.
