Teacher-in-Residence

Discovery Gateway‘s teacher-in-residence (TIR) program is a yearly professional leave opportunity for a Utah school teacher. The mission of the program is to give local teachers a chance to experience informal learning approaches to education.

The teacher-in-residence will develop curriculum to share with their peers and work with museum professionals to train other teachers. The knowledge and experience the teacher-in-residence participants gain from this program will have an impact on their students, school and district when they return to the classroom.

School districts can utilize this program as a real benefit for their teachers to gain professional development. They also see a direct benefit in the programs that are developed for schools — group visits, teacher workshops, and outreach programs.
