END OF YEAR GIVING CAMPAIGN | Nov. 1st - Dec.31st
Sponsored Memberships for Head Start families and Partnership Passes for Ronald McDonald House and The Road Home
Early exposure to quality educational experiences can positively affect a child’s school readiness and lifelong success, making it an invaluable investment in the community’s ultimate economic and workforce development. When this exposure extends to our most vulnerable citizens – those living below the poverty line, homeless or in transitory housing – it can help to provide a temporary safe haven for kids whose lives seem especially unstable or unpredictable.
Each year, Discovery Gateway: The Children’s Museum of Utah provides inspiring educational programming and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) centered exhibits to its members, visitors and school children on field trips. But there is a segment of our population that cannot afford the entry fee or membership dues to visit our facility.
It is the disadvantaged children in our community who would benefit most from the museum’s early learning experiences, which include pre-school classes in our Curiosity Shop five days a week, in addition to hands-on learning in each of the museum’s exhibit galleries. These experiences can help close the achievement gap, improve classroom success, graduation rates and employment opportunities, which is why we are asking our supporters to help give these children the gift of learning through play.
Join Discovery Gateway in creating positive outcomes for Head Start families by sponsoring a membership for a family in need. Head Start and Early Head Start are comprehensive early childhood development programs serving low-income children from ages birth to five and their families. We will provide memberships to selected families at the 3-month, 6-month and 12-month levels. Our 2013 End of Year campaign provided nearly 200 memberships to Head Start families and we hope increase that number to 350 for 2014.
Provide exceptional experiences for families in transitional or transitory housing situations at The Road Home shelter or Ronald McDonald House through Discovery Partnership Passes. Discovery Gateway will provide a certain number of fully-transferable Discovery Partnership Passes to one of two partner agencies based on the amount of money raised by the End of Year campaign. These passes will allow families in stressful life situations a chance to experience a few hours of relief from their worries, giving their children a chance to just be kids for a while in the safe and welcoming environment of Discovery Gateway.
Help Discovery Gateway to inspire children of all ages to imagine, discover, and connect with their world to make a difference by sponsoring a membership or a Discovery Partnership Pass today.
*All donors at $35 and higher will receive two day passes to come and visit us at Discovery Gateway.
